VISION

The Evolution Innovation Lab, headed by Dr Raye Yeow Chen-Hua, focuses on bio-inspired engineering research. Together with his team of engineers, students and clinical collaborators, their vision is to study the mechanisms of nature, and to develop medical technology that target important clinical unmet needs, particularly in the aspect of smart assistive devices, rehabilitation, surgical robotics, soft robotics, biomechanics and wearable sensors. The ultimate aim is to translate these technologies into commercialized products that fulfil real-world medical unmet needs.

Soft Manipulation

We develop customizable soft manipulators, including pneumatic chamber-gripper devices that generate compliant actuation and can be very useful in the process of gripping delicate tissue, and soft robotic hands that be used for tele-operated delicate manipulation in harsh environments.

Soft Wearable Robotics

We develop lightweight soft wearable rehabilitation and assistive robotic devices, including soft robotic gloves and socks, which can provide robot-assisted movement to the joints of interest for the patients.

We develop various soft wearable sensors including EEG sensors, bend sensors and force sensors that can be integrated with our soft robots to provide real-time feedback control.
