Team NUSSIT won second in Assisted Bathing Challenge 2017
Mr Phang Ye Sheng and Ms Nicolette Tsang from NUS Biomedical Engineering took part in the Assisted Bathing Challenge 2017 as part of a student team with SIT Allied Health students. The competition was organized by ASME and MOH Holdings to design devices to help the bathing process for the elderly and/or the nurses who help them.

Dr. Ren Hongliang received 2018 IAMBE Early Career Award
Dr. Ren received the award from The International Academy for Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE) in June of 2018 at The IUPESM 2018 - World Congress on Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering, Prague, Czech Republic. There are 3 awardees internationally and Dr. Ren is the awardee for Asia-Pacific region.

Professor James Goh is the new President of IUPESM (2018-2021)
Prof James Goh, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NUS was installed as the President of the International Union of Physical and Engineering Science in Medicine (IUPESM) at the World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic
Dr Andy Tay received Harry M Showman Prize from UCLA
The Harry M Showman Prize from UCLA is awarded every year to one Engineering student who most effectively communicate the achievements, research, results or social significance of any aspect of Engineering to a student audience, the engineering professions, or the general public.
BME team came in 2nd runner-up in International Competition
Congratulation to Mr Yu Longteng, Mr Soon Renhao and Dr Yeo Joo chuan who competed in the 2nd China innovation and entrepreneurship competition (Singapore Division) and won 2nd Runner-up out of 15 teams.
PhD student to receive 2018 Ray Wu Prize for Excellence in Life Sciences
Congratulation to Ms Lim Su Bin who will be presented with the award at the 9th Ray Wu Symposium to be held on October 19th to 21th in Taikang Business School，Beijing.
Dr Alberto Corrias appointed as Fellow of the NUS Teaching Academy
Congratulation to Dr Alberto who was appointed as Fellow of the NUS Teaching Academy for a term of three years beginning on 1 July 2018.
He has also been awarded the Engineering Educator Award at the Faculty of Engineering Awards & Recognition Ceremony 2018 and the Annual Teaching Excellence Award during University Awards 2017.
Research Fellow awarded prestigious Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) Postdoctoral Fellowship
Dr Saw Thuan Beng has been awarded the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) Postdoctoral Fellowship for 2018. This Fellowship was established in 1991 through the LKY Endowment Fund, and aims at promoting the development of outstanding, young academics in science, medicine and engineering. The scheme is open to recently graduated PhDs of all nationalities, and is highly competitive, with one awardee across NUS per year for the past few years.
Under this Fellowship, Thuan Beng aims to elucidate the importance of endogenous electric fields toward tissue homeostasis using in vitro and organ-on-chip models through interdisciplinary approaches involving cell biology, physics modeling, and micro-engineering. He will be part of the research team headed by Prof Lim Chwee Teck at BME.

Congratulation to Dr Raye Yeow who received the Digital Learning Transformation Award from NTUC Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing at the NTUC May Day Awards 2018 on 5 May 2018.
NUS students won two awards at ARTSIC 2018
Our BME students - Mr Ashsiddique OMRUL HAUK, Mr Charanpreet SINGH, Mr PARK Doyoung and Ms CHANG Jen-Shuan - took home the Silver Award and Best Prototype Award with their submission - Development of a wrist rehabilitation device and virtual reality games for stroke patient, and they will be representing Singapore to compete in i-Create conference in Shanghai in July 2018.
